Wilderness Medicine Opportunities!

"How can I get hands-on experience in Wilderness Medicine?"

Nearly 100 of our National Parks, National Monuments, and Recreation Areas have no volunteer physician medical advisor. This is a great opportunity for members of the Wilderness Medical Society, including non-physician members and medical students. Most National Parks would welcome the opportunity to work with medically trained WMS members to help with their training and educational needs.

Members who live near a National Park, Monument, or Recreation Area may contact the local EMS coordinator to inquire about medical advisor requirements and a job description, or contact Dan Pontbriand, National Park Service Branch Chief EMS, at Dan_Pontbriand@nps.gov.
