WMS Members, Colleagues and Friends around the world,

We invite you to join us July 13-17, in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada, for the 6th World Congress on Wilderness Medicine. Our host hotels, The Westin Resort and Spa and The Hilton Resort and Spa, offer lovely accommodation in the heart of Whistler for this premier CME event.

Since wilderness knows no bounds, the WMS is continuing our program of quadrennial conferences to review the status of wilderness medicine activities around the globe. The WMS World Congress brings many of the world’s leading experts to lecture and speak in their respective wilderness medicine specialties and attracts attendees who work in wilderness medicine and provide medical care in challenging areas around the world.

Our four preconference programs include Mountain and Expedition Medicine (DiMM), Disaster and Humanitarian Medicine, Marine Medicine, and Advanced Wilderness Life Support.

Additionally, the WMS will be launching an exciting new program in association with the University of Utah and the University of Colorado – the U.S. Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DiMM). This program is designed to train participants in the essentials of mountain medicine and rescue in technical alpine environments. The DiMM is an internationally recognized course certifying that the participant has undergone rigorous training and testing. The WMS-backed U.S. DiMM is currently under review for international approval by medical commissions of the ISMM, ICAR, and UIAA.

The WMS leads the world-wide community in wilderness medicine education and we hope that you will choose to be a part of this outstanding event and conference in beautiful British Columbia.
